Personally, we do not need a McDonald's to make Glendive any better....

I moved back to Glendive almost 10-11 years ago, because I missed places like Makoshika and Hollicker and Intake.  Cars in the Park, Bell Street Days is great family fun.  I love the river and the plains.  Sand Creek and the Bad Lands are stunning and a natural paradise for adventurous minds.  I love the "day trips" to Medora or Medicine Rocks near Ekalaka.  Glendive has some of the finest and perhaps the most, baseball and softball fields.  You know what.  I missed shopping at Reynolds Grocery when I lived in bigger cities.  People say hi and they are sincere.  Did I mention the BEER JUG!!!!  and just for grins.....yes....we now have the BEST Damn Brewery in Montana just 20 minutes down the road 8) ;) ;)  When people on FaceBook or elsewhere slam their own home town when they come to visit or just spout off.....well....stay where you are at, you don't deserve to come back....HOME.

You must consider that it seems to be a problem these days, with finding, hiring, then keeping, good staff to work at these places.  The last year or greater, the McDonald's was terrible as far as "some" staff, (don't want to piss off anyone particular).  The service was marginal at best and the place was generally unkempt.  I spoke to the owner of the franchise and he was running into many problems not the least of which was the Flood Plain issue.  But high on his list was the quality of employees he was NOT able to hire and keep.  There is no doubt that such a restaurant would/could do well under the right owner and if the right management staff were to keep the employees they needed.  My understanding is that the current location must not be sold to any person whom intends to franchise any restaurant that directly competes with McDonald's.  So that leaves open allot of non-options for you business types.  If the place does not sell in 5 years????  I was told a person can then purchase and put in any type of food vendor.  That is what I have heard anyway.
